US producers launch new $50/st sheet hike
US sheet producers are attempting another base price hike, Kallanish learns from market reports and customer letters.
An emblematic customer letter from AK Steel says all current spot carbon sheet prices are now up a minimum of $50/short ton, effectively immediately.
Market sources say AK’s move has been echoed by several competing producers. A buy-side source says one producer has established a new minimum base price of $540/st.
