US rigs fall by 34, Canada down 1

Both the US and Canadian rig counts declined in the week ended 8 May, Kallanish learns from energy services company Baker Hughes.  The US rig count fell by 34 net rigs to 374, a historic low and down 614 from the equivalent week last year.  Rigs geared for oil production fell by 33, while rigs geared for natural gas production fell by one.  Texas led the notable net losses by state with 28, followed by North Dakota with six.
