US semis imports surge in April
US imports of semi-finished steel goods appear to have spiked in April, Kallanish learns from the US Department of Commerce.
The US hit a 12-month high in April with 864,955 tonnes of blooms, billets, and slabs. The previous high was set in August with 825,694t.
Both months displayed an unusually high amount of imports from Brazil. In April, the US imported 334,971t from Brazil, while that figure was 451,400t in August.
