US stainless imports rise in March
US stainless imports appear to have set a 12-month high in March, according to the US Department of Commerce’s license data.
The US applied to import 187,062 tonnes of stainless products in March, up from February’s preliminary total of 103,851 t. The previous high was set in December with 115,986 t.
License figures can appear higher than preliminary totals due to refused shipments and other irregularities, Kallanish notes.
