Vyksa Steel Works discontinues open hearth steelmaking

Vyksa Steel Works has shut down its open hearth furnace, discontinuing for good the steelmaking route in favour of sourcing merchant billet from Metalloinvest, Kallanish learns from Russian parent OMK. Besides reducing harmful emissions, the move will improve the quality of railway wheels produced by Vyksa and ensure the stable supply of product to customers, OMK says.
