CIS output increases in 2023 despite war, sanctions

CIS crude steel production increased in December, according to the latest worldsteel data monitored by Kallanish. Regional output amounted to 7.1 million tonnes, up by 11.8% year-on-year. In full-year 2023, CIS crude steel production was more by 4.5% on-year to 88.1mt. Russian production last month is estimated to have increased by 4.3% to 6mt.
