January global pig iron output rises marginally

Global pig iron output notched up in January, as European and Asian producers ramped up output. Output totalled 104 million tonnes, up 1.7% on-month and just 0.1% on-year, worldsteel data monitored by Kallanish show. Asia's output increased by 1.3% on-month and 3.9% on-year to 86.9mt, as every iron producing country ramped up production.
