Philippines supports Hegang but blocks induction furnace project
Hebei Iron and Steel (HBIS) and SteelAsia are pushing ahead with their integrated steelworks project, signing a new deal at the end of August. The Philippines, however, has blocked another Chinese investment on the grounds that it is discouraging induction furnace steelmaking, Kallanish notes.
